AIG unlock the key to making Critical Illness simple
26th August, 2016
AIG Life, one of the UK’s leading providers, has made a big change to their Critical Illness proposition by launching Key3. By simplifying the offering to cover three main conditions, Key3 is a simpler form of Critical Illness cover, which pays out a lump sum on diagnosis of cancer, heart attack or stroke.
Many of the leading providers have been under pressure in recent years to make buying and understanding Critical Illness clearer for consumers. This is because some experts have said that the practice of “condition counting” by providers has led to consumers being slightly overwhelmed with all the conditions and illness they needed to consider when looking at getting cover.
But AIG’s new policy now offers a different solution to consumers. Despite only meeting the minimum requirement from the ABI, Key3 actually covers around 85% of all Critical Illness claims. AIG Life has also announced that premiums for Key3 will be around 30% lower than its comprehensive “Your Life” counterpart. But those looking to cover themselves will need to be aware of the risks associated with only covering 3 conditions.
AIG believe that this new policy will not just help deliver simple Critical Illness solutions, but provide those who are slightly more budget conscious a solution to go with their Life cover, although it is also available as a stand-alone policy. Cost and clarity are two of the biggest barriers for many consumers, which means this new solution will also help advisers provide their clients with the cover they deserve.
Key3 also comes with access to Best Doctors, which can be used by the insured person for up to three years after pay-out, as well as access to AIG Life's Claims Support Fund. This helps to make it one of the most important policy changes by a provider in 2016.
