Bright Grey Offers a Helping Hand
30th March, 2015
Research from leading insurance provider Bright Grey has suggested that nearly two-thirds of people would take the opportunity to get an alternative assessment when diagnosed by a medical professional. The findings have been revealed on the back of Bright Grey’s newest addition to its Helping Hand service, which has been extended to include a second medical opinion.
The insurer also discovered that a quarter of those surveyed had desired a second medical opinion in their past experiences, with two-thirds having never even been offered one. Nearly half of the UK adults surveyed also believed that a second opinion should always be available when a medical diagnosis is received, with the majority preferring a face to face diagnosis.
According to Debbie Kennedy, Head of protection proposition for Royal London Group's Intermediary Division, the research "highlights the value customers place on receiving a second medical opinion; it also reiterates how important it is for customers to have a personal conversation with a medical professional".
A service such as Bright Grey’s Helping Hand is just one of the many surprising benefits of Critical Illness insurance that you may be unaware of. Many providers offer more than just cover, with Friends Life also developing its policies to include Global Treatment, which gives customers the option of seeking medical assistance abroad as well as in the UK.
