Employees want more support for later-life working

Research from Canada Life has revealed that over a third of employees are now happy to work beyond the age of 65. This figure has doubled in just the last three years, which shows general attitudes are changing towards retirement age.
The online survey of UK employees also showed that not only are people happy to work for longer, but their reasons for doing so are more than just financial. More than quarter said they want to continue working because of job satisfaction and the continuation of social interaction and influence.
But two thirds said they would be inclined to work for companies that support health and wellbeing, through employee benefits, when considering working into later life. Many of those surveyed also said that income protection, life insurance and critical illness cover are also important factors, as well as certain benefits and flexible working.
