Would you know how to check for cancer?

Research from Bupa UK has revealed some worrying findings regarding checking for common cancers.

A survey of UK employees found that as many as 42% are still confused about what to look for when checking for common cancers such as skin, bowel, and lung. The healthcare group is concerned that without early prevention, there will be continued delays in diagnoses and self-examinations.

Nearly half of the employees found it hard to remember what to look for, and two in five admitted that they had not checked for cancers at all. The survey also revealed that many employees had delayed reporting symptoms to their doctor.

There was also concern from employees as to how their employer would respond when asking for time off to seek medical advice and Bupa research showed that 32% of employers still do not mention cancer in the work place.
