Marriage age increase puts focus on financial planning

People getting married later in life has highlighted the importance of financial advice for couples. Figures from the Office of National Statistics (ONS) showed that the average age for marriage has increased from 35 to 37.5.

This has put the focus back on couples who need to seek financial advice, especially in regards to inheritance tax strategies and other forms of financial planning. Experts have highlighted how quickly assets can build up, which may mean the estate reaches the threshold for inheritance tax sooner than people think.

Using a financial adviser helps to better understand the available products available. Writing policies into trust can be an important part of this, especially as recent research indicated that customers were at risk of losing a total of £100bn by not writing policies into trust.
