More support needed for children’s cancer

More support needed for children’s cancer

Receiving a cancer diagnosis for your child is difficult enough without the added financial pressure it can also bring. According to nurse service RedArc, parents of child cancer patients are currently facing additional bills of £600 per month, on top of the emotional struggle of dealing with the situation.

RedArc are asking insurers to do even more to help parents cope with both the diagnosis and the additional expenses included. These extra costs range from covering travel, accommodation, and any loss of income incurred through taking time to attend medical appointments and childcare.

Many providers cover against child cancer, and offer additional options to ensure more people cover against their children when taking out critical illness policies. But RedArc are asking the industry to deliver more than just financial support. They want providers to aid parents in understanding diagnoses, help with access to services, and deliver much needed emotional support.

If you would like to discuss your cover options, or find out more about what benefits and services providers currently offer on top of financial support, contact us today on 0800 024 8685 to arrange a chat or just to learn more.
