What are your employee benefits?
11th February, 2019
Employee benefits such as insurance products are not being communicated properly, according to research from Canada Life. But modern businesses do have a much better attitude to wellbeing than previous generations, with 75% of employees feeling that wellbeing was important to their employer.
Over a third of employees said they would like much more information on workplace benefits, with one in 10 claiming they had simply not been informed at all. A fifth of the 1,001 people asked admitted that they were made aware of benefits when first employed, but had heard very little since then.
Many of the people asked also said that they would feel much better about their employer if they were offered specific types of insurance such as income protection, life insurance, and critical illness cover. These types of benefits even took priority over other perks such as gym memberships.
Employers are under building pressure to help employees more with their wellbeing, and research now shows that retention is greatly improved when employers look after their workforce. The right approach to wellbeing can also act as a valuable tool to attract the best talent in the workplace.
